Agricultural products of Jiangsu will become popular in the world in the next five years. In recent days, the "2005 to 2010 Plans of Vitalizing Agricultural Product Export of Jiangsu" has been issued. According to this plan, Jiangsu will try to realize an annual increase rate of agricultural products of over 15%.

According to our understanding, despite being a province with higher level of industrialization and economic development, Jiangsu is relatively weak in agricultural product export. With less proportion and the total volume, in 2003, agricultural product export of Jiangsu ranked as the 7th and 8th in the whole country. In 2004, the total volume of its agricultural product export reached USD 847 million, only occupying 3.8% of that of the whole country.

So, Jiangsu will take action of cultivating famous agricultural products for export in order to support enterprises of agricultural product export to apply for registered marks, sanitation registration and special attestation of product qualities in countries and regions of targeted markets. At the same time, Jiangsu will actively bring in foreign, local as well as industrial and commercial capital to promote its agricultural product export.
